MICROSOFT has revealed huge Windows 10 news ahead of a major update for the lauded operating system in October that will bring a swathe of new features.
Windows 10 was last overhauled in April and fans of the software will surely be excited for the October 2018 update that is presumed to arrive very soon.
And while the April upgrade added a ton of new features such as the Timeline tool, the newest version is set to bring even more additions.
At the start of September Microsoft officially unveiled the “Windows 10 October 2018 Update” that should make dramatic changes on all computers running the operating system.
The American tech giant recently discussed one of the headline features that will arrive with the new version.
Dubbed the “new clipboard experience”, users will be able to copy and paste across devices using cloud technologies.
And items can be pinned to a clipboard, meaning it can be accessed quicker than ever.
Discussing the feature back in May, Microsoft noted: “Copy paste – it’s something we all do, probably multiple times a day.
“But what do you do if you need to copy the same few things again and again? How do you copy content across your devices?
“We’re addressing that and taking the clipboard to the next level – simply press WIN+V and you’ll be presented with our brand-new clipboard experience!”
Additionally, the File Explorer app will receive a Dark Theme as part of the forthcoming rollout.
Microsoft insisted such a feature was a “top request” from users.
The American company declared: “We’re excited to announce that Dark Theme support for File Explorer is ready for the next major release of Windows.
“Adding a dark theme to File Explorer has long been a top Insider request. Some users find that a dark theme is easier on the eyes.
“Others simply like the fresh, new look. But while dark mode has been available in Windows for some time, it hasn’t applied to File Explorer, until now.”
The firm confirmed the software is installed on over 700million devices across the globe.
Such news emerged during Microsoft’s Ignite 2018 press conference in Florida, according to On MSFT.
And although the October 2018 Update is on the horizon for the huge number of Windows 10 users, Microsoft has not yet provided an official date as to when it will release.
However, it is presumed Windows 10 Insiders will receive it first with some predicting it will arrive towards the start of October.
The Windows 10 Insider programme is an initiative fans can sign up to – it grants access to early builds of Microsoft’s operating system but can come at the expense of more prominent bugs overall.
It is possible Microsoft will discuss the October 2018 Update further at a planned hardware event on October 2.
