CS reviews nutrition campaign

Dehradun (DIPR)-Chief Secretary Utpal Kumar Singh at the review meeting of State Level Convergence Committee of Nutrition campaign held at his office hall instructed the officers to fill the vacant posts through promotions in CDPO supervisors and Aanganbari workers. He said discussions should be held in the schools with parents besides during the meetings of gram panchayat, BDC and district level on malnutrition.  He said all the Aanganbaris should have digital weighing machines and machines measuring the heights of the children and try to bring down the malnutrition amongst children between 2 to 6 per cent within a year.

Chief Secretary said that Aanganbari centres have an important role to play in checking malnutrition amongst children.  He further said that cleanliness has importance in checking diseases and malnutrition. He gave strict instructions to the departments like finance, planning, education, health, rural development and panchayati raj linked with the State Level Convergence Committee on ‘Nutrition campaign’ to work in cooperation to eradicate malnutrition in the state.

 He said that todays’ girl child is tomorrow’s mother and only a healthy mother can give birth to a healthy child and a healthy child can make a healthy society. He said that the state administration will give all possible help top eradicate malnutrition from the state.

Additional Chief Secretary Radha Raturi informed that under Integrated Child development services, take home rations are being provided as supplementary nutrition. Fifth day of every month is celebrated as “Weight and Nutrition Day” and on this day all the beneficiaries are provided nutritious food through Aanganbari centres. She said that ANMs and ASHA workers should also check children, adolescent girls and women on fifth day of every month.    .

Deputy Director/ Nodal officer National Nutrition Mission Sujata gave an account of the work done under the Nutrition campaign and gave a presentation on the road map to eradicate malnutrition in the state.  Additional Chief Secretary Radha Raturi also presented the award given by the central government for implementation of the convergence working plan to the Chief Secretary.

Principal Secretary Rural Development Manisha Panwar, Additional Secretary Health Arvind Singh Chauhan, Mission Director National Nutrition Mission Ranveer Singh Chauhan and other concerned officers were present in the meeting
