Dehradun (dipr)-Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat released the book on the works done by Indian Railways in Uttarakhand – “Nai Railway Naya Uttarakhand” at CM Residence on Wednesday. In this book, information has been given on the development of the works and schemes undertaken by Railways in Uttarakhand from 2014 to present. The book provides information about the development of the railway infrastructure related in the last four years. It also gives insight into the construction of new rail lines in Uttarakhand, Road Over Bridge (ROB), Road Underground (RUB), passenger-centric services in Uttarakhand, safety and amenities of passengers, free Wi-Fi at the major railway stations of the state and digital transactions on ticket counters.
Chief Minister said that Devbhoomi in Uttarakhand is one of the main tourist and pilgrimage places in the country. Devotees from India and abroad come to visit four Dham of Uttarakhand. Every possible effort is being made to increase the resources for the traffic in the state in view of the convenience of passengers. There is full cooperation from the Central Government in making traffic smooth and accessible in Uttarakhand. After 2014, Lucknow-Kathgodam Express, Hisar-Haridwar Express, Ramnagar-Chandigarh Express, Jammu Tawi-Haridwar Express, Anand Vihar-Lalkuan Intercity Express, Ramnagar-Agra Fort Express were inaugurated in Uttarakhand. Construction work of new railway line between Rishikesh-Karnprayag is in progress, while the work of final location survey of Char Dham link is in progress. He said that after the construction of the Deoband-Roorkee rail line and construction of Saharanpur-Baghpat-Delhi National Highway, the distance Dehradun to Delhi will be covered within 3 hours. This will increase and at the same time facilitate the tourists and pilgrims in the state. The construction of the Rishikesh-Karnprayag railway line will also be helpful for the development of hill areas.
Railway DRM Mr. Ajay Kumar Singhal informed that for the upgradation of railway stations of Dehradun and Haridwar as well as for the convenience of the passengers, a project of Rs 16 crores has been made and its work has started. He said that Rs. 577 crores expenditure has been incurred on rail projects of Uttarakhand in the past 04 years, which is 208 per cent more than the year 2009 to 2014.
