Dehradun 23 June, 2018-Director General of NCC Lt. Gen. P .P. Malhotra, VSM, called upon Uttarakhand Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat at his official residence for a courtesy meetingon Saturday. He requested Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat to allot land for NC headquarters and academy building in Uttarakhand. Chief Minister assured NCC Director General that in the interest of youth of the state and in view of importance of NCC, suitable land for NCC headquarters and academy will be made available in the hilly areas of the state.
Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat directed Secretary Amit Negi who was present on the occasion that besides establishing land bank, all the details of the buildings of various departments and land with them should be prepared. He also instructed that details of school buildings, panchayat bhawans and other government offices which are not in use should also be prepared. He said that after the preparation of details of such buildings, a work plan for better utilization of such buildings should be prepared.
Chief Minister said that a large number of youth from the state get recruited in army and para-military forces every year. NCC besides instilling patriotism and discipline amongst youth also prepares them for recruitment into army and para-military forces. On the request of Director General NCC, he also assured to transfer NCC instructors to those schools having NCC.
Lt. Gen. P.P. Malhotra, Director General NCC said that NCC holds 37 camps every year in the state in which 18,000 NCC cadets from Uttarakhand and other states participate. Through these camps, the sentiments of national unity are instilled in cadets besides conducting other activities. He also requested the Chief Minister for support in getting necessary facilities for holding these camps. He said that soon a state advisory committee of NCC will be constituted. On the occasion, NCC ADG, Uttarakhand Major General C. Mani was also present.
