184 illegal encroachments demolished, 227 identified in anti-encroachment drive on Thursday


Dehradun 12 July, 2018-In pursuance of orders of honorable High court, the exercise of demolition, identification of illegal encroachments and illegal constructions on footpaths, lanes and roads for general public and sealing of illegal encroachments in Dehradun city by Mussoorie- Dehradun Development Authority, Municipal Corporation, Dehradun and district administration has been going on.

Under the anti-encroachment drive on Thursday, 1341 workers demolished 184 illegal encroachments while 3689 workers identified 227 illegal encroachments. The work to remove encroachments on main roads has been going on speedily.

Additional Chief Secretary Om Prakash gave necessary instructions to the officials involved in the anti-encroachment drive at a meeting held at Women Industrial Training Institute, RDT Auditorium at Survey Chowk. He said that strict action will be taken against those workers and officials who were found negligent in their work of identification of encroachments.

Om Prakash said that information about encroachments since the formation of the new state should also be collected and help of satellite maps should be taken.

 Om Prakash instructed Ashish Srivastava, Chief of Task Force to remove encroachments who is also vice-president of Mussoorie-Dehradun Development Authority, that a public notice to seek details about illegal; encroachments should also be published. He said that an appeal should be made to general public that if anyone had made any complaint against any illegal encroachment in the past, a copy of the said complaint should be made available to Municipal Corporation, MDDA and district administration so that a concrete evidence of that illegal encroachment is collected.

Om Prakash said that work to remove illegal encroachments from main roads has been going on. He said that regarding encroachments other than main roads, a competent officer of the Municipal Corporation has to serve a notice to the person involved in encroachment for three weeks and after three weeks, the person has to give his reply to the notice and the competent officer will take a justified decision within four weeks. Till then, there will be status quo at these places.

 He said that if any encroachment is done after the orders of the honorable high court then a justified decision will be taken to remove the encroachment after serving a notice of 24 hours.

 Garhwal Commissioner Sailesh Bagoli, District Magistrate S.A.Murugesan, SSP Nivedita Kukreti, Chief City Commissioner Vijay Kumar Jogdande, Secretary MDDA P.C. Dumka, Under Secretary Dinesh Kumar Punetha and  others connected with the anti-encroachment drive were present on the occasion.
