299 illegal encroachments demolished, 87 identified in anti-encroachment drive on Friday


Dehradun 20 July, 2018-Additional Chief Secretary Om Prakash has informed that in pursuance of orders of honorable court, the exercise of demolition, identification of illegal encroachments and illegal constructions on footpaths, lanes,  roads and other places and sealing of illegal encroachments in Dehradun city by Mussoorie-Dehradun Development Authority, Municipal Corporation, Dehradun and district administration has been going on.

Under the anti-encroachment drive on Friday, 299 illegal encroachments were demolished and 87 illegal encroachments were identified. Till date, a total of 2565 illegal encroachments have been demolished, 4876 illegal encroachments have been identified and 95 buildings sealed during the anti-encroachment drive.

Additional Chief Secretary Mr. Om Prakash said that during the proceedings for the removal of illegal encroachment, the officers associated with the task force should work with mutual coordination. He said that if any negligence in the proceedings of removal of illegal encroachment against any officer and employee comes to notice, then strict action will be taken against such workers as per rules. He said that the process of removal of illegal encroachments under the municipal limits is being done in a phased manner. He issued strict instructions to the task force officials that they should not come under any kind of pressure during the proceedings to remove illegal encroachment. He added that as per the directive of the honorable court, they should continue to take action to remove illegal encroachments.

Om Prakash has also issued instructions to the officers to speed up the process of the removal of the debris of the buildings, boundary walls demolished, during the rain, from the roads, so that there is no inconvenience. He said that UPCL officials should further speed up the work of removal of transformers, electricity lines, electricity poles, HT and LT lines, which have been marked as red.

Additional Chief Secretary said that the places where the exercise of demolishing the illegal encroachment has been completed, its regular monitoring is being done by the task force to ensure that there is no re-encroachment at those places. He said that instructions have been given to the task force for speeding up the identification/sealing and future proceedings of such residential buildings, which are being used for commercial activities.
