12 illegal encroachments demolished, 129 identified during anti-encroachment drive on Tuesday

Dehradun 31 July, 2018 –Additional Chief Secretary Om Prakash has informed that in pursuance of orders of honorable court, the exercise of demolition, identification of illegal encroachments and illegal constructions on footpaths, lanes, roads and other places and sealing of illegal encroachments in Dehradun city by Mussoorie- Dehradun Development Authority, Municipal Corporation, Dehradun and district administration has been going on.

Under the anti-encroachment drive on Tuesday, 12 illegal encroachments were demolished and 129 illegal encroachments were identified. Till date, a total of 3133 illegal encroachments have been demolished, 5744 illegal encroachments have been identified and 108 buildings sealed during the anti-encroachment drive.

Additional Chief Secretary Om Prakash on Tuesday, reviewed the campaign to remove encroachments, identification of encroachments, sealing of buildings and further action with anti-encroachment task force officials at a meeting held at Women Industrial Training Institute, RDT Auditorium at Survey Chowk.

Om Prakash instructed the anti-encroachment task force officials that videography and photography of the demolition work should be ensured. He directed  that besides removing encroachment, the work of removing debris should also be carried out simultaneously so that there is no inconvenience to general public and traffic remain unaffected. Om Prakash instructed that all the department should complete their work on time which include the work of widening, leveling, beautification and concretization of roads. He asked the officials of PWD to complete the work of leveling and stone work and also directed Power department officials to complete the work related to their department which include laying of transformers, HT & LT lines and other related work.  Om Prakash instructed the officials of the anti-encroachment task force not to work under any pressure while removing encroachments and complete the anti-encroachment drive as per the orders of the honorable court.  Om Prakash said that no laxity will be tolerated in removing encroachments from main roads within the limits of the Dehradun Municipal Corporation. He said that FIR would be lodged under relevant sections of the IPC against those who are again encroaching upon public land.

 Asish Srivastava, Chief of Anti-Encroachment Task Force who is also Vice-chairman of MDDA assured Additional Chief Secretary Om Prakash that if those who had sought time to remove their encroachments themselves in Zone 4 had not removed the said encroachments, then the task force will remove such encroachments on Wednesday at all costs.

 Before the meeting Additional Chief Secretary Om Prakash personally inspected the area around parade ground, Tibetan market, Lansdown chowk and took stock of the cleanliness situation. He instructed that cleanliness of the city should be speeded up.  He said that the area is known as the “Heart of the city” and thousands of people including locals, pilgrims and tourists daily visit it.  He said that it was our responsibility that cleanliness standards of the area are high and people visiting the area carry a good impression of the state capital. During the inspection, he instructed the City Commissioner to monitor the cleanliness of the city.

District Magistrate S.A. Murugesan, Chief City Commissioner Vijay Kumar Jogdande, Chief Engineer PWD Rajinder Goel, MDDA Secretary P.C.Dumka, Under Secretary Dinesh Kumar Punetha, PWD and officials involved with anti-encroachment drive were present in the meeting.
