Joint Effort For Elimination of Tuberculosis (JEET) Launched in Uttarakhand


Dehradun 27,August 2018-Today, Joint Effort For Elimination of Tuberculosis (JEET) Launched in Uttarakhand. The participants were officials from STC, DTC, CMO (of 4 urban districts), Directorate, USACS, NUHM, Drug Controller, IMA State & district chapter, Chemist association-State Chapter & Districts chapter.

Main focus was on how to eliminate TB completely. Dr. Ajeet Gairola said that TB is not eliminated  completely because of lack of proper counselling with patients, Early diagnosis, and patients not completing course of medicines. 27% of TB patients are from India.

Dr. Anjali Nautiyal, Director of NHM in this regard said that there is improper notification. She said that now TB is curable, but people are still running away from treatment. They don’t want to disclose about their TB in their family. Once they start treatment, they dropout. She also stressed on proper counselling before starting treatment of patients and awareness programs to remove fear of TB.

This project JEET will be working in Dehradun, Haridwar & Nainital simultaneously and planning to eliminate TB by 2024.
